2021 Tongass ToughMan Summary
The 3rd annual 2021 Tongass ToughMan Triathlon is now on the books, and we are pleased with the results. With a total of 22 participants, we would like to recognize Rob Cross of Petersburg who took home the win with a time of 7h 54M 50s. It was a hot sunny day, which made this already difficult course that much tougher, and we would like to congratulate all the participants who volunteered to take on the challenge—we thank you for your suffering.
We hope to see the ToughMan grow exponentially in the coming years. While the impact of covid on our 2020 and 2021 events forced us to go through the motions in an ‘unofficial’ manner, it also created a more forgiving opportunity by allowing us to transition our swim from the pool to the open water. ToughMan 2022 is sure to be an ever more exciting and robust event as we work to ramp up logistically and branch out to the larger triathlon community in hopes of bringing in a larger group of ToughMan competitors to take on this wild, challenging, and rewarding triathlon.
Our mission for the Tongass ToughMan is to challenge and inspire individuals to grow through difficult, rewarding opportunities that require voluntary sacrifice, hard work, and suffering to reach a new level of personal growth and inward perspective. We are all capable of achieving much more than we know. We hope to see you next year at our 4th annual 2022 Tongass ToughMan Triathlon with early registration opening soon!
